Here’s the rustic confines of Haché LA, a new burger steak sandwich concept from Mick Schepers that occupies the former Tarascos spot in Silver Lake. Opening today from at 3 p.m., the newbie specializes in French-style ground beef delicacies that follow a rather strict set of preparation rules. So while freshness and special care go into the cooking, hachés are essentially burgers, topped with cheese, sauces, lettuce, tomatoes, and more. Roam around the place a bit, grab an haché, and hang out on the patio.
A few months ago came news that Silver Lake’s beloved Tarascos was being acquired by a new restaurateur. Today, the discovery that it’s going to become the second iteration of Michael Scheper’s Mick’s Karma Bar, called Haché LA. The Orange County burger joint, lauded by the OC Weekly, hopes to bring a new style of burger-dom to Silver Lake, with offerings like liquid nitro frozen custards, twice-fried fries, and a course-ground beef patty burger.
